Electronic Textile: Sew your own wearable musical interface by Hannah Perner-Wilson (AT/USA) und Mika Satomi (JP/AT)
Ein Einstieg in die Textile Elektronik. Näh-, löt- und bügeltechniken werden verwendet um tragbare schaltkresise zu schaffen. Gestalte dein eigenes tragbares musikalisches Spielzeug Interface und nähe es aus leitenden Materialien, damit du im Gewand mit deinem Körper musikalisch sein kannst.
This workshop aims to be an introduction into soft fabric electronic circuits
and a DIY concept of wearable technology. Both in our own projects and in
workshops we choose to introduce affordable, available, off-the-shelf materials,
basic techniques and DIY instructions, so that workshop participants can
continue to develop their own ideas and solutions at home. We believe that
sewing, soldering and experimenting with materials is not hard and should
become everyday practice.
In this workshop we will take apart cheap electronic musical toys and create
wearable circuits that interfaces with these. We will provide an easy to
follow circuit pattern and instructions that can be printed on your festival
t-shirt. But for those of you who feel creative, we will encourage you to
come up with your own ideas and textile solutions. We will help you plan
your soft circuits, sew fabric buttons, sensors, conductive traces and stretchy
connections. The aim in this workshop is to learn different techniques and
use them in order to personalize and complete your very own wearable musical
interface.
Feel free to bring with you any clothing items you would like to modify
as well as any old
electronic musical toys you wish to hack.
Teilnehmer: Offen für jeden der Spass am Nähen und experimentieren mit Elektronik hat. Der Workshop wird hauptsächlich auf English gehalten, es kann aber auch deutsch gesprochen werden. Die Teilnehmerzahl ist auf 12 Personen beschränkt. Wenn Du Dir einen Platz reservieren möchtest, melde Dich gleich an.
Durchführung: Samstag, 6. Dezember 2008 von 13.00 Uhr bis 18.00 Uhr Begleitete Werkstatt um an den Projekten weiter zu arbeiten: Sonntag, 7. Dezember 2008 ab 13.00

Unkostenbeitrag: 40.- pro Teilnehmer (Du kannst selbstverständlich Dein Elektronic-T-Shirt nach dem WorkShop behalten)
Mika Satomi
Mika Satomi kommt ursprünglich aus Japan und schreibt zur Zeit ihren PhD
bei Interface Cultures an der Kunstuniversität Linz, Österreich. Sie hat
Graphik Design an der Tokyo Zokei Universität studiert und Medien Kunst
am IAMAS, Japan. In ihrer Forschung konzentriert sie sich auf die Theorie
und Ausführung der Cyborg Kultur im Berreich von Wearable Technology. www.nerding.at
Mika Satomi is originally from Japan, currently a PhD candidate at Interface
Culture, University of Art and Industrial Design Linz, Austria. She has
studied Graphic Design at Tokyo Zokei University, and Media Art at IAMAS,
Japan. In her research, she focuses on theory and practices of cyborg culture

Hannah Perner-Wilson
Hannah Perner-Wilson studierte Industrie Design an der Kunstuniversität
Linz. Zur Zeit lebt sie in New York wo sie an tangible, interactive und
wearable technology Projekten arbeitet. www.plusea.at Hannah Perner-Wilson
studied Industrial Design at the University of Art and Industrial Design
Linz, Austria. She is now living in New York where she works on tangible,
